guitar randomness

today, Rob (my roomate) and I made a journey to Stop and Shop. We got a lot of stuff. We both got the hand carts instead of carriages, and that turned out to be a mistake. But anyway, first to the walk there.

We went to the music store in search of guitar stings, because I popped my low E the other day when I was playing. As opposed to when I was whacking my guitar against an intruder. So I needed to get a new one. And I figured, hey, why not get a whole new set of strings, what with me getting the guitar with them on it over two years ago, and I don't know how long they were on before that. So I got some, after a guy helped me figure out which ones to get. Martin acoustic lights and no, I'm not buying cigarettes.

So then we went to a jewler's store to see if they had watch pins, because one popped last week when I was playing ultimate, and my watch fell off, and it was messy. But, the jewler's stores we went to were closed, except for one that seemed open, but had some weird sign on the door saying something about "called police" and "tear gas," I shit you not so I decided not to go in there.

We got to Stop and Shop, and got the aforementioned baskets, that ended up being way too small, because we got too much stuff. For example, I got four bags of pizza flavored goldfish. Why? Because I can. I like having lots of food. So people can take it all. Wait, that's not it.

Anyway, on the way back with vastly overflowing backpacks and not because we stole anything, that stuff just didn't take up that much room, we saw a sign on a computer store window. It said *ahem*
We convert Beta tapes to VHS format. We convert 8 milimeter tapes to VHS format. We convert VHS tapes to VHS format.
And the mispelling of millimeter was on the sign. seriously. As was "we convert VHS tapes to VHS format." I mean it.

But we stopped laughing, eventually, and walked back to our room to put stuff away, because it was heavy.

Sick and not loving it

Yeah, so I've been functionally sick for about five or six days now. You know, sore throat, coughing up phlegm. Fuh-leg-um. Not fun stuff. It hurts to cough now. Oh well. I'm going into town tomorrow to get some stuff from Stop and Shop, and other places. I have to get some food, like more goldfish, because I'm almost out, and they're good. Pizza goldfish, that is. mmm. I wish they had bigger boxes. They had bigger ones at BJs at home, but they didn't have pizza flavored ones. I should so make a list of what I need to get. ok, brb.

aiight, I'm back now. Making a list was a good idea. Now I just need to remember to bring it. After I write it out, because it's on my computer now. feh. I also need to get guitar strings, because I popped my low E yesterday. Well, friday, at least. I think friday. ah well. I may or may not have been hitting the strings too hard. I was jamming. ha, I said jamming. anyway, I liked what I was playing. dammit. It adds on to a song I was writing nicely, I think, and is faster and harder than what I normally write, so that's good.

I should sleep now. hope I get less sick!

classes

Well, I've had three days of classes. It's been ok. On tuesday, I started off with CNS at 9-10:25. My calc recitation was cancelled for the week, so my earliest class was at 1:15, my humanities class, something about Revolutions in latin america, or at least spanish countries. plus the USA. because we're too fucking amer-o-centric©. It seems pretty damn boring. Calc III at 9:45, my earliest class. It's ok. I just need to make sure I do my homework for it, and I'll be fine. It bit me in the ass last year, because I didn't do enough work, and test time was hard. So I need to make sure I study and do homework. Last year, but the end of my study time, I was starting to understand everything, so if I do a lot of that previously, I'll be great. I hope. Then I had CNS at 11:10-12:25. same old stuff. Some stuff I don't know, some I do. I went to lunch, then had Computer Science at 1:15. I hope it's going to be good. The professor is the same one that taught my lab for CSCI 4 last semester, and he remembered me from it. At 2:30, I had Econ. Sadly, the professor informed us that it wasn't going to be math-based. d'oh. Then, I had CNS from 7 to 11. yes, you read that right. unless you didn't read from 7 to 11. Unless that got messed up too. Which I didn't think it did. Closing is ok. Not too many people come in, and that's nice. But a computer wouldn't do what I wanted it to do, because I was messing something up. oh well.

that's all for classes, right now. next time: other stuff like fencing being annoying, ultimate breaking my watch ultimate the sport, i.e. frisbee, dumb fencing parties, and ...I forget

CNS training

that's Computing and Network Services, by the way

by the way, this is the third time I've had to start this entry, because my browser has crashed twice. and the first time, it would let me see the text, but when I highlighted it and copied it, it didn't take. crazy.

Anyway, I've been having CNS training. It's been ok, not quite what I thought it was going to be. There's a lot of stuff that seems superflous, in that lots of what we learned isn't directly applicable to my job. oh well. I'm sure I'll learn lots more about actually fixing computers later, on the job. heh.

I did computer handout on saturday. Drew has a program where all incoming freshmen get a computer It was pretty fun. I walked around in the dorms from 9 to 12, then from 1 to 2:30 or 3, making sure people knew what wires went where and such. Some people can't follow simple directions like "take the power adapter out of the box and plug it into the wall." crazy people, but that's what I get paid the big bucks not really for.

Next update: first day of classes.

moving to drew and packing

but not in that order

Packing was lots of fun. This is probably going to be pretty short because I'm writing this on friday morning, and I moved up here on sunday. I stayed up until 5:30 in the morning packing stuff and worrying about forgetting stuff. I watched some tv, and browsed the internet a little bit. whee. Anyway, I was expecting to wake up at 8, so we could leave at 8:30 and eat lunch on the way and get there at about noon.

My dad woke me up at 9. No complaints here.

We drove for about two and a half hours, we stopped to eat at Fuddrucker's. It's really good. I had a nice chicken sandwich and birch beer. mmm, food. I'm hungry now.

We got to drew, and spent a lot of time hauling stuff up to the third floor. That wasn't fun. heavy stuff. eew. We then took a long time building my loft wait, assembling, not constructing and attaching my phone to my loft. It's a fun phone: a pay phone from the 1960s.

Rob my roomate this year different Rob from last year moved in on tuesday. and when i say moved in, I mean snuck in. He's not supposed to move in until sunday. I hope my RA isn't reading this. ha.

Next post: CNS training. I'll do it later.
